Deutilization

Deutilization is a method that suspends or defeats an object’s assigned practical utility so its structural, geometric, material, and expressive capacities can become active without being replaced by another use.

Deutilization was developed by Viktor Genel beginning in 2013 and is an earlier major branch of Arteanity. It starts with an object whose prescribed use already determines how that object is handled, valued, and perceived.

The operation does not simply reuse the object, decorate it, or assign it a new function. Instead, the authority of the existing function is interrupted. Once that practical assignment is no longer sovereign, qualities that utility had made secondary - proportion, geometry, repetition, tension, material behavior, and structural capacity - can become primary.

MeconoMorph, Scissaurus, HedgeCone, Sawrus, MoneyCube, and later subtractive investigations emerged from this field. Within the larger Arteanity framework, Deutilization occupies the post-assignment side of a shared problem: it releases an existing object after use has already claimed it, while Preutilization protects a Somacentric event before a projected use or image can claim it.
