MeconoMorph is a generative structural system initiated in 2013 in which standard business cards are folded into repeatable units called Mecons and joined into expandable three-dimensional forms, suspending the cards’ ordinary role as instruments of professional identity.
MeconoMorph emerged within Deutilization in 2013. It begins with the standard business card, an object whose dimensions and social function are highly standardized, and subjects it to a repeatable folding and joining protocol.
The resulting unit, the Mecon, is no longer primarily a carrier of professional identity. Its fixed proportions become structural information. Multiple units can be joined into expandable three-dimensional configurations that change across installations, participants, locations, and scales.
For this reason, MeconoMorph is documented as a generative system rather than a single fixed sculpture. Individual manifestations are instances of the system. Within Arteanity, MeconoMorph demonstrates the Deutilization principle especially clearly: assigned utility is suspended, while latent geometric and structural capacities become active without the object being converted into another practical tool.
